Bishop Hayes is well known around the world for his innovative and insightful knowledge in the area of relationships and interfaith ministry. He has conducted seminars for 20 years all over the United States and in Europe. He deals with real issues that affect real people.
After graduating high school, Bishop Hayes went to New York to live with one of his siblings and while there, he enlisted into the United States Air Force (USAF). At the age of 23 the Lord called him into the ministry. He was licensed in September 1976 and preached his first official sermon in December of that same year. During his 20 years of faithful service in the USAF, Bishop Hayes pastored churches wherever he was stationed.
After retiring from the USAF, Bishop Hayes became a volunteer chaplain for the DFW Airport Interfaith Chaplaincy; five years later, he was appointed as the Senior Chaplain. Still serving in that role, Bishop Hayes has been key in developing one of the world’s leading airport chaplaincy programs.
In addition to his chaplaincy work at DFW International Airport, Bishop Hayes serves as the Faith Based Initiative Coordinator as a Board Member for the Veterans Coalition of North Central Texas and on the Community Relations Board for the Carswell Federal Women’s Prison in Fort Worth. He also pastors G.I.F.T. Ministries Church in Fort Worth.
Bishop Hayes is a graduate of Covenant Bible College & Theological Seminary, earning his Doctorate of Philosophy in Theological Studies. He received Episcopal Reaffirmation at the hand of Apostle++D. E. Chase, Ph.D. on June 14, 2009 and was bestowed full lines of Apostolic Succession.
Donald Hayes married Cheryl Regina Smith and their union was blessed with one daughter, Alicia Nicole, and two sons, Brian Keith and Donald, Jr., married to Carla. Bishop Hayes and his wife are now enjoying four handsome grandsons, Kaleb, Joshua, Daniel, and Brian and one precious granddaughter, Brianna.
